Killing Floor 2 is a first-person shooter game that is most popular for its co-operative gameplay, but also features PvP, with a focus on fighting off waves of zombie-like creatures call Zeds. The Zeds are a botched attempt of biotech company Horzine at making military clones, as a result of a psychopathic researcher hijacking their plans and unleashing the clones in Europe. In this sequel, the clones have spread globally and world authorities are failing to contain the threat. Now, the developers, Tripwire Entertainment, have added in the Interstellar Insanity, along with a host of new features, which we will be going over in this article. Right, let’s get straight into it.
The Interstellar Insanity went live on all platforms on June 22nd in the Western hemisphere, and on June 23rd in our half of the world. The biggest feature that this update brings to the game is the Moonbase map, which returns from the original, 2009’s Killing Floor, but with several changes to adapt it to the mechanics of the sequel. The map is a large maze of corridors and hallways that you can use to shake off Zeds and create space between them as you prepare the new electricity traps to fry them to their core or use the low-gravity mode to evade them entirely. The Zeds themselves also receive an update, they now all have clown motifs, clown skins, and associated voice effects.
Apart from the new Moonbase map, the Interstellar Insanity update also added in a bunch of new weapons. First, there’s the HRG Bastion for SWAT players, which is capable of creating an energy shield to protect you from damage. Meanwhile, the HRG Blast Brawlers for Support units adds on shotgun blasters to the end of your power gauntlets, what an amazing innovation! The paid DLC adds on the FAMAS Masterkey for both Support and Commando, which is an assault rifle with a shotgun under the main barrel.
