When it is a Sunday or any other holiday, we keep searching for things to spend our leisure time. In this situation, the best you can do is play some good games. For that, one major service that you should definitely choose and use is Steam. Steam is a video game distribution service by Valve. Steam was released so that Valve can offer automatic updates for its games. It was developed initially for Microsoft Windows operating systems. But later it other versions were released for macOS and Linux.

According to Valve, Steam had around 125 million active accounts by the end of 2015. It was also reported that the company had 27 million new active accounts since January 2016. Most of the users are from North America and Europe. But Steam has seen remarkable growth in accounts from Asian countries in the last few years. Valve considers the concurrent user count as the main indicator behind the success of Steam.

Valve claimed in August 2017 that they have seen an increase of 14 million concurrent players from just 8.4 million in 2015. The peak online count increased to 18.5 million by January 2018 with almost 47 million daily active users.

Now recently users have reported a problem related to the service. Users said that they have been experiencing an API key error on Steam. An Android app user said that he has been experiencing the error after he updated the app. A user said that he is not able to stream anything because of this error. A user said that the error is happening with multiple accounts and IP addresses.

Another user said that he has opened a new account on Steam. He tried to generate a Steam API key. But there was an error message on his screen which said that ‘Access denied. You will be granted access to Steam Web API keys when you have games in your Steam account’. The user then added some free games and he also purchased some paid games. Still, the error was appearing on the screen every time when he opened Steam. If you are experiencing the same problem, there are a few things you can try to fix by yourself –

  1. Edit the Windows firewall and antivirus settings.
  2. Opt-out of the beta testing program offered by Steam.
  3. Try running Steam with administrator privileges.
