The Snapdragon system on chip (SoC) was announced back in November 2006. This chip was named Snapdragon because it makes the chip sound fast and fierce. Snapdragon processors are available on various devices which include Android, Windows Phone, and Netbooks. Usually, Qualcomm releases its flagship processors at the year-end. Last year’s Snapdragon 865 was unveiled on December 5. And now, as 2020 is moving to the end, we are getting new information on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875. Even though several product releases have been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic, It is speculated that the Snapdragon 875 may launch on December 1.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 expected features:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chip is expected to feature the same 1+3+4 configuration similar to its predecessors, but with a Cortex-X1 Super core, three Cortex-A78, and four Cortex-A55 cores.
On one hand where Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 is fast enough to take on Samsung’s Exynos 1000, it still very behind when compared to Apple’s A14 Bionic in terms of single-core performance. Maybe another rumored Qualcomm chip Snapdragon 875+ might use the ARM’s Cortex-X1 Super core in a better way to finally bridge the gap between Qualcomm and Apple’s silicon.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 & 750 features 5G, so it is obvious that the SD875 will also come with 5G and it may be among the first chipsets to use ARM’s latest, high-performance Cortex-X1 core. However, adding 5G to the chip is not a hard task for the company.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 expected devices:
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 will be available in the sequel of the flagship phones which came with last year’s flagship processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The list of expected devices to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 is given below.
- ASUS Rog Phone 4
- OnePlus 9 Series
