In Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord companions are unique characters that can be hired to do the tasks for you. They also help to overcome your weakness in the battlefield. If you lack administrative and other off-field skills, then companions come handy in those situations. Since the game is still in early access, companions are not yet fully implemented. However, a number of companions are available for hire in the game. A Reddit user u/Escapeware has done great job in listing out all companions available in the game Up to date as of beta e1.1.0.
