The new free expansion of Path of Exile , Delirium has just been released on PC servers . It will arrive on March 20 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. As per tradition of the game Delirium is simultaneously both an update and a league. You can read all the details in English on the official website , while below you can review the announcement trailer of the expansion. Grinding Gear Games describes it like this:
“The expansion of Path of Exile Delirium adds new deadly enemies and amplifies existing ones to create an intense level of difficulty in basic Path of Exile combat. Delirium also introduces Jewel Clusters that allow for even more profound personalization of characters and unlock new powers.”
The Jewel Clusters represent a huge change in terms of goal: these can be placed in special sockets located in the most peripheral places of the skill tree, modifying the effect of the passives to which they are connected and creating new branches in the skill tree. There are 280 in total, and each of them can be rerolled to get the most desired statistics. The implications on the builds are extreme: the developers themselves have stated that this change, in terms of character construction, is as heavy as the introduction of the Ascendancies back in 2016 was. There will therefore be fun for theorycraft fanatics .
Clusters Jewel will be dropped by any defeated monster in the Delirium League. In this regard, the new encounters will be based on the Mirror of Delirium , which will be found by random players in the various maps. Interacting with the mirror, a dense fog will form in the area which will make the monsters much more powerful, increasing the difficulty of the area but also the rewards related to the killing of mobs.
The farther you go from the Mirror, the thicker the fog will become, and the more dangerous your enemies will be. The new Orb of Delirium will then allow this effect to be applied to endgame maps, making them even more profitable.
There is also a revised endgame experience with some optimizations, new skills and three new support gems, as well as the usual plethora of new objects and maps, to which is also added the challenge of the Simulacrum .
But not everything went smoothly: the developers explained on Twitter that the launch of Delirium on PC recorded a record number of 237,160 simultaneous players in the early hours. Combined with a DDOS attack, this has caused some connectivity and queue problems to servers. Grinding Gear Games apologized for the inconvenience, but the problems should already be resolving as we write.
