Broken Arrow Crashing Issue Troubling Players: Is there any fix yet

Broken Arrow is a large-scale real-time modern warfare tactics game from Steel Balalaika and Slitherine, officially launched on June 19, 2025. With its impressive range of military units and real-world-inspired combat mechanics, players were excited to dive into strategic battles. However, not everything has been smooth sailing. Since its release, many players have encountered frequent crashing issues. Whether during mission loading, mid-game battles, or even in the menu, the game seems prone to sudden crashes on various PC configurations. The good news is there’s an official hotfix released claiming to fix a number of issues causing crashes. But some players are still reporting that they are facing crashing issues, especially in the “Big Wave” mission. In this guide, we have shared a few workarounds you should try to get the game working smoothly.

Update The Game

Since the developers have released a hotfix that contains a fix for the crashing issues, we recommend updating the game and seeing if the issue still persists. If even after updating, the error persists, try the next workaround.

Verify Game Files Integrity

Crashing issues can also be caused by corrupted game files. So, you can perform a file integrity check via Steam to rule out this possibility. Just open your Steam Library. Right-click on Broken Arrow and select “Properties.” -> Go to the “Installed Files” tab. Click “Verify integrity of game files…” Steam will check all game files and re-download any that are missing or corrupted.

Update Your Graphics Drivers

Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers are a leading cause of game crashes. Always ensure you have the latest drivers for your GPU. Many players have reported that updating their graphics drivers helped improve stability.

  • NVIDIA: Visit the NVIDIA driver download page and select your GPU model.
  • AMD: Visit the AMD drivers and support page and select your GPU model.
  • After downloading, perform a clean installation of the drivers. And launch the game again to check the issue.

Add Exception On Windows Defender

  • In Windows Security > Firewall & network protection, click “Allow an app through firewall.”
  • Click “Change settings,” then “Allow another app…”
  • Browse to the Broken Arrow executable (e.g., Steam\steamapps\common\Broken Arrow\BrokenArrow.exe) and add it.
  • Once done, launch the game to check whether the crashing persists.

Underclock Your CPU

A few players have reported that they were able to fix the crashing issue by slightly underclocking their CPU. To do this, use tools like Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), which allow you to safely adjust CPU frequencies and voltages. Here is a Steam user who reported success after underclocking an i9 14900KS from 5.9 GHz to 5.3 GHz using Intel XTU. So you can also try to tweak your CPU a little and then check whether the issue persists.

Those are all the workarounds we recommend you try to fix the crashing issue in Broken Arrow. If you found this guide helpful, be sure to visit DigiStatement regularly—we post gaming-related guides, fixes, and updates daily!
