Elden Ring: NightReign is finally here, bringing a fresh roguelike twist to FromSoftware’s iconic dark fantasy world. Players were also hyped to try this new spin-off to Elden Ring, which was a groundbreaking and fan-favorite game. But for many players, the excitement is short-lived as crashing issues plague the experience. From unexpected shutdowns during co-op runs to freezes on startup, these issues are already affecting gameplay for tons of players across both PC and console.
NightReign is the new multiplayer roguelike spin-off of Elden Ring, developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. This game shifts from open-world exploration to intense co-op dungeon runs and procedural challenges. While the game has a single-player mode, it is intended to be played cooperatively by teams of three players who collaborate over three in-game days to prepare for the final boss. Imagine you are just moments away from defeating the final boss and guess what? Your game just crashes and all your work and progression are gone. Unfortunately, this issue has been reported by lots of players, causing frustration and ragequits. But don’t stress; we have a few solutions you can try to fix these crashes.

Restart Your PC
Before you try any workarounds, we recommend that you just restart your PC and then load the game again to see if the problem still persists. If it does, try the next workaround.
Verify Game Files
If you’re on Steam, use the “Verify integrity of game files” option to check for any corrupted files that might lead to this issue. This feature will fix any corrupted files responsible for crashing. To verify game files on Steam, go to your Steam Library, right-click on the game, and select Properties. Now, select the Installed Files tab and then the Verify Integrity of Game Files option. Once the scan is complete, launch the game to check if the issue persists.
For NVIDIA 40 Series GPU Users
For users running Elden Ring: NightReign on an NVIDIA 40 Series GPU, current driver versions may be a factor leading to instability and crashes. Few Steam users suggest that rolling back to driver version 566.36 has significantly improved stability with no crashes. So, we suggest that you do the same. Downgrade your GPU driver version and then check whether the crashing persists.
Installing Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU)
One workaround that has helped some players, as reported on Steam, involves using Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU):
- Download and install Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU).
- Open the app and check the Performance Core Ratio of your CPU. If it’s set to 55x or higher, try lowering it slightly.
- Set the value down to 53x or lower and apply the change, and then launch the game.
This method has worked for many players, allowing them to run the game smoothly with no stutter or crashes.
For now, these are the workarounds we suggest you try. We hope the issue is fixed now so you can continue your gaming journey. If this guide helped you out, don’t forget to visit DigiStatement for similar content. We share many guides, news, and tips related to gaming daily.
