The Precinct is the new top-down shooter featuring the life of a cop in Averno City, 1983. Your objective in the game is to clean your city full of gangs, and of course, lower the crime rate. While doing so, you will be engaged in various car chases, helicopter chases, and more. It’s a tribute to the fans of cop movies. Anyway, if you are already playing the game but are encountering red pixels in the darker/shadowed areas, don’t worry; this is a very common issue. Consider reading this guide for workarounds to fix it for good.

The red pixels issue in The Precinct has been troubling a ton of players, as it isn’t really occurring on sub-par systems. Players with 5000 series Nvidia GPUs are also encountering the same. So, how to fix it? Well, there is a tried and tested workaround that has fixed the issue for some. So, you can give it a try. More details on the same are shared below.

As of now, the red pixels issue hasn’t been officially acknowledged by the developers, which is why waiting for an official fix is just wasting time. So, here are the workarounds worth trying in the meantime:

Force Vulkan

This issue stems from the graphics API being used by the game. So, to bypass this error, you can switch to a different graphics API, namely Vulkan. Switching to this has fixed the issue for many. But do you know how to force the game to run with the Vulkan API? If not, follow the mentioned steps:

  • First, launch Steam and then go to Library.
  • After this, right-click on The Precinct and then select the Properties option.
  • Now, go to the General tab, and under the Launch Options textbox, enter the following: “-force-vulkan” (without the quotes).
  • Once done, launch the game and then check whether the red pixels issue persists.

Restart

If the issue persists, consider restarting your PC and then launching the game. A fresh restart might fix this temporary issue so we recommend doing so.

Update GPU Drivers

Another workaround worth trying is to make sure that your GPU’s drivers are updated to the latest version. For this, head over to the official website of your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD) and then download the latest drivers for your specific GPU. Once done, install the drivers and then restart your PC. After this, launch the game to check whether the issue persists.

For now, these are the workarounds that you can try to get rid of the red pixels issue in The Precinct. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
