Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns three labels including Rockstar, has again resorted to the same old bullying behavior towards modders, and this time, it is popular YouTuber Dark Space who got hit by their wrath. Soon after Dark Space released a new video on YouTube featuring their work, creating a very realistic GTA 6 map mod inside GTA 5, they received a copyright strike from Take-Two Interactive. This strike resulted in the video being removed from YouTube without any prior warnings, as stated by Dark Space. So, why did this happen? More details on the same are shared below.
The history of modders and Take-Two Interactive goes way back, as there are multiple instances where the company has sued modders or even shut down YouTube channels of certain GTA modders for modding their games. It is quite clear that the company is not mod-friendly and wants to protect its IP from the very community that it exists for. What’s interesting is that even mods that enhance the base game were taken down by Take-Two Interactive in the past, which just doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, do you want to know the possibilities that surround as to why the video was taken down? If yes, continue reading.

GTA 6 Map Mod in GTA 5 Taken Down by Take-Two – Dark Space Speaks Out
Reason #1
The primary reason the video was taken down is because the GTA 6 map mod may have been just too accurate. The map mod was based on the GTA 6 mapping project, which has been worked on by many for years. This project is the result of a collaborative work of modders who created the map based on the leaks in 2022 and the GTA 6 trailer. So, it is safe to say that it is the closest replica of the actual GTA 6 map. When Dark Space created the map mod and featured it in their video, maybe Take-Two Interactive thought that the content resembled the actual map a little too much, due to which they sent a copyright strike. Of course, Dark Space is not happy about it, and he himself has been speculating reasons as to why the video was taken down.
Reason #2
Another reason that Dark Space thinks the video was taken down is the 40-minute interview with a modder in the GTA Liberty City Preservation project team. The modder shared a bit of information about a Rockstar employee and Rockstar’s internal drama related to FiveM. So, it is possible that this part of the video was the reason why Take-Two went for a copyright strike.
Dark Space’s Response
In response to the copyright strike, Dark Space emailed Take-Two, stating that he would have gladly removed the video if he had received an email about the same. He requested Take-Two to consider retracting the copyright strike, following which he will remove the video himself. He also confirmed he has understood that Take-Two has every legal right to file a claim and take down the video or the mod. And, finally, he also confirmed that he won’t be indulging himself in similar GTA 5 content in the future.
So, this pretty much wraps up the drama between Take-Two Interactive and popular YouTuber/modder Dark Space. If you find such content interesting, make sure to visit DigiStatement regularly for more such interesting reads.
