REPO or R.E.P.O. is a new co-op horror game that debuted on February 26, 2025. Developed and published by semiwork, the game takes inspiration from the massively popular game Lethal Company. In the game, you need to explore the world to find valuables and extract them with care. It features a 6-player co-op, which makes gameplay fun and interactive. But what breaks immersion and fun is the voice chat feature not working properly. Multiple players who tried the game have reported that the game doesn’t detect their system’s microphone, due to which they are unable to communicate via voice. So, if you too are encountering the same problem, consider reading this guide for workarounds to fix this issue for good.
Voice chat issues are not uncommon in games; in fact, the game from which REPO takes its inspiration, Lethal Company, also had the same issue. In a co-op setting, communication is key to having fun and relaying important information. So, without voice chat, the whole experience becomes a bit dull. That said, you might be wondering whether the developers have said anything regarding the same. Are there any workarounds? More details on the same are shared below.

REPO (R.E.P.O.) game Mic/Voice Chat Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there isn’t any acknowledgment from the developers regarding this problem. This isn’t surprising considering that the game has just been released. Maybe in the near future, an update will go live fixing all these issues. But until that happens, here are some workarounds for you to try:
Restart
A basic troubleshooting step to start with is to just restart the game and then your PC. After this, check whether the voice chat feature is working. If not, try the next workaround.
Proximity Voice Chat
If you didn’t already know, REPO uses the proximity voice chat feature. This means that you will be able to hear other player’s voices only if they are near your vicinity.
Enable/Disable Push To Talk
If the voice chat issue persists, consider using voice chat via Push-To-Talk mode, or if it was already enabled, disable it and set it to Auto. You can find the game’s push-to-talk setting in the Audio tab, which can be accessed via the Settings menu.
Select the correct input device
For this, go to Windows Settings, and then select the System tab. Here, select Sound, and then in the Input section, make sure that the right microphone device is selected as default. Once done, launch the game and then check whether voice chat works.
Windows Settings
You will also need to check whether your system’s microphone can be accessed by the game. For this, go to Windows Settings and then select the Privacy and Security tab. Here, under the App Permissions section, select the Microphone option. Make sure that the Microphone access option is set as On. Next, enable the Let apps access your microphone setting. If these settings were already enabled, disable them once, and then enable them again. After this, launch the game to check whether the issue persists.
Remove Multiple Input Devices
If you have multiple input devices related to voice connected to your system, then consider disconnecting them except the primary device using which you wish to send your voice input.
Use a different input device
It is possible that the device you are using is at fault. So, consider using a different input device when communicating in REPO to check whether it detects your voice now.
For now, these are the workarounds we recommend that you try to fix the voice chat not working issue in REPO. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you want access to more such gaming-related content on a daily basis, make sure to bookmark DigiStatement as we bring you the latest guides.
