F1 Manager 24 Crashing on Steam Deck

Frontier Developments released the third installment of their F1 Manager series, F1 Manager 24, and fans are loving it. F1 Manager 2023 was particularly a fan-favorite title, and F1 Manager 24 has followed suit. The new game is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Players, of course, had high hopes for the handheld compatibility of the game. F1 Manager 24 is, in fact, playable on Valve’s Steam Deck. However, players continue to encounter certain hiccups while running the game on the handheld. Players are especially annoyed with the frequent crashes that they’re facing with the game on Deck. So, if you’re a victim of this problem, how do you fix it? Keep reading this guide to find out the potential workarounds for fixing the crashing issue with F1 Manager 24 on Steam Deck.

The problem with games crashing on Steam Deck is becoming a recurring one. F1 Manager 24 being a new title, it’s been more than frustrating for the players. After all, Valve’s Steam Deck is one of the most popular handhelds out there. With multiple users preferring the Deck to play their favorite titles, these crashes have become a big concern. Since F1 Manager 24 isn’t officially verified on Deck, it’s natural that the game crashes occasionally on it. So, what can you do if you’re facing the crashing issue? Let’s find out.

F1 Manager 24 Crashing on Steam Deck: How to Fix?

F1 Manager 24 Crashing on Steam Deck

Since F1 Manager 24 isn’t verified on Deck, we don’t really have official fixes for the problem. However, players can try some common workarounds and see if that works for them.

Restart the Game, Restart Steam Deck

The simplest and quickest way to fix any problem with any game is to restart it. Quit F1 Manager 24 and then launch the game again. If it didn’t work, then press and hold the Power button on your Deck to force restart the device. See if this fixes your issue. Note that if your Steam Deck doesn’t automatically turn back on after a force restart, you can press and hold the Power button again to do so.

Verify Game Files

  • In your Library, highlight F1 Manager 24.
  • Press the three-dots button.
  • Go to Properties and then open Installed Files.
  • Select the “Verify integrity of game files” option.
  • Wait till the process completes and then launch the game. See if the issue persists.

Use Proton GE or Proton Experimental

  • Follow the previous workaround to access the game’s Properties menu.
  • Once you open it, go to Compatibility.
  • Select the “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” option.
  • Select Proton GE from the list and run the game.
  • If the crashes persist, then follow the same steps again. Except this time, select Proton Experimental instead of Proton GE.
  • Run the game and see if it still crashes.

Use Steam Linux Runtime

If F1 Manager 24 continues to crash, then you need to try using Steam Linux Runtime as your compatibility layer. The steps are similar to the previous workaround. Except, of course, that instead of choosing a Proton version, you have to select Steam Linux Runtime for running the game.

Update Steam OS

  • Press the Steam button on your Deck and go to Settings.
  • Go to System and select Check for Updates.
  • If you have a pending update, download and install it.
  • Then, restart your Deck and run the game.

Reinstall the Game

If the game continues to crash, your last option is to uninstall and then reinstall the game. We suggest that you install the game on Steam Deck’s internal storage. See if it crashes still.

Well, that’s how you can try and fix the crashing issue in F1 Manager 24 while running it on the Steam Deck. Hopefully, we were helpful in addressing your queries. If you found this article insightful, keep visiting DigiStatement for more such gaming content and information!
