Sony is shutting down the PlayStation community forum on February 27. Both the North American and European Community forum will get shut down. It seems like Sony want their player base to interact on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the official PlayStation blog.
Well, the forums that are shutting down were mostly a relic of the PlayStation 2 era and its Community is not as active as it used to be. The company has not given any explanation regarding the shutdown. You can read the official message down below.
Hello,
Beginning 27th February, the PlayStation.com forums will no longer be available.
We invite you to continue the conversation via PlayStation.Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. For product support, please visit the support site, Playstation.com/help/.
It could also be the possibility, that Sony wants to make some room for PS5 & wants the community and focus to focus on some new forums. PlayStation 5 is expected to launch later this year, however, no specific date has been confirmed.
Well, Sony has already confirmed that they won’t be present at E-3. So we won’t be able to see the first look new generation console at E-3.
