While 2023 was a great year for AAA games, it was also equally incredible for indie titles. From Cocoon and Planet of Lana to Sea of Stars and Pizza Tower, 2023 was truly an amazing year for indie games. And among these phenomenal indie titles is also developer Black Salt Games’ Dredge. Released on March 30, 2023, Dredge is a single-player fishing adventure title with a Lovecraftian charm. The game was met with such a positive reception that just recently, on March 7, 2024, it was nominated for 4 BAFTA Game Awards, particularly in the categories of Debut Game, Narrative, Game Design, and New Intellectual Property. Thanks to all this, the game has garnered quite a bit of attention and a lot of new players are hopping in to try it out. However, it seems like many of these new players also want to know whether they can play Dredge with mods, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR3, and DLSS.
Dredge is Black Salt Games’s debut title and the New Zealand-based indie studio knocked it out of the park with their first try. Despite the game being simple and short, it continues to rake in accolades after accolades, all thanks to the solid game design done by the folks over at Black Salt. As of October 2023, Dredge had already sold one million copies and the rise in sales numbers isn’t going to stop anytime soon. And while it’s a fun game for sure, one major question continues to be asked: Does it support mods, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR3, and DLSS? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Dredge game Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
Well, at the time of publishing this, Dredge doesn’t have official mod support. Last year, a player did ask about mod support on the official Discord server, and Black Salt Games simply stated that it wasn’t really a priority for them at the moment. And considering that the game still hasn’t received official mod support, it seems like there are other more important things that Black Salt Games is working on. But this hasn’t stopped the community from developing mods, and there are already some amazing mods like Dredge VR, Fast Dock, and Dredge Free Cam, among others, which you can install and play. Check out the DREDGE Mods website for the aforementioned mods. Apart from that, there’s also no native HDR support in the game right now. As such, you can either try Windows 11’s Auto-HDR feature or use third-party tools like Special K or autohdr_force. If none of this works, then all you can do is wait for the developers to add native HDR to the game.
Now, while there might be no native mod or HDR support, players can at least enjoy the game in ultrawide and super ultrawide aspect ratios, as the game supports both. But what about AMD FSR 3 and DLSS? Does the game have native support for both? Unfortunately, no. Dredge doesn’t even have any kind of upscaling option at all. And to be honest, it doesn’t really need upscaling when it runs perfectly fine on even the most low-end PC out there. However, if the developers do add in upscaling later for some reason, we will be sure to let our readers know all about it.
And that’s all the information we have on this. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know whether Oxygen Not Included also supports the same features.
