When it comes to MMORPGs, ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2 is considered one of the best in the genre by many. Released back in 2012, it just received a new major update on February 27, 2024, called The Realm of Dreams. This latest content drop features three new story chapters, a legendary relic, new legendary Convergences bosses, and much more. And thanks to this, new players are joining in on the fun, but before that, some want to know if the game has a mod, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS support. Well, if you are wondering the same, here’s everything you need to know.
For many, a lot of features like these are a must, especially things like mod and upscaling technology support. And since many games don’t offer all these features, some prefer it best to be aware of things like this before they hit the purchase button. So, does Guild Wars support mods, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Guild Wars 2 Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
At the time of publishing this, Guild Wars 2 doesn’t officially support mods. However, you can certainly use them if you want to do so. That’s what the FAQ states when it comes to mods:
“Is it okay to use addons or mods with GW2?
Third-party programs are not officially supported, and you use them at your own risk. For further clarification, please check out our third-party program policy:”
A lot of players are already using mods and addons in Guild Wars 2, so you can use them too. But remember to only use the ones recommended by the community and those that don’t alter the game balance. Otherwise, be ready to get banned.
As for HDR support, unfortunately, that’s a straight no. However, there’s a third-party tool called Special K which some players are using to play the game with HDR. So, if you want to enjoy GW2 in HDR, then you can try using this software. Additionally, if you are running Windows 11, check out if Auto HDR works for you.
Although there might be no native HDR, Guild Wars 2 does support both ultrawide and super ultrawide aspect ratios. Now, if you do experience some extreme stretching on the sides, make sure to decrease the field of view in the in-game settings to deal with that. Apart from that, you are all good to go.
And now we come to AMD FSR 3 and DLSS support. Well, currently, Guild Wars 2 doesn’t support either AMD FSR 3 or DLSS. Players are still requesting upscaling technology support, but developer ArenaNet has yet to add that option. We will be sure to let you know if the game gets FSR 3 and DLSS support in the future.
