Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) cruise missile not working: How to fix it?

Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (reboot sequel) was released back on November 10, 2023, and it was clear from the get-go that the game needed more time in the oven. The campaign, in particular, was panned by both critics and fans alike due to just how short and rushed it was. Although the multiplayer side of things was generally good. Tons of Call of Duty fans continue to enjoy the latest entry into the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series, with Sledgehammer regularly updating the game with new content. Just a few days ago, on February 21, 2024, Modern Warfare 3 received a new patch related to the ongoing Season 2. While the patch fixed a lot of issues and added in balance adjustments, unfortunately, it also introduced a major bug that is currently affecting the Cruise Missile kill streak.

Well, the issue here is that, due to this Cruise Missile bug, players are unable to steer the killstreak at all. And if you are familiar with this killstreak, then you can understand just how important controlling the Cruise Missile is. And because of this annoying bug, it just drops at random places. As for what’s causing this bug, it’s something we don’t know at the moment. Regardless of what the cause here is, an issue like this can’t be ignored. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out if there are any fixes for this or you will have to wait for the developers to put out a fix.

Do note that currently there’s no official fix available for this as the developers have yet to acknowledge this bug. So, make use of the potential fixes mentioned below and see if any of them are of help to you.

Restart –

First of all, try to restart the game. The restart method can help a lot in dealing with a myriad of issues so start with this. However, if it doesn’t work, try the next workaround.

Rebind controls –

If you happen to be using edited controls in-game, we suggest resetting your keybinds to default. Once you have reset controls, try using a cruise missile and see if you are able to control it. If the issue continues, switch to another method.

Switch to another killstreak –

Well, this is more of an alternative of sorts. Since the Cruise Missile killstreak is bugged right now, it’s recommended to use another killstreak until the developers fix this bug.

Contact support –

If none of the aforementioned workarounds are of help, then we highly recommend that you contact support. While they might not be able to resolve this issue immediately, it should at least help the developers know the severity of the issue. We are hopeful that this issue will be fixed soon.

Well, if the workarounds didn’t provide any fruitful results, all you can do right now is wait, as this bug can only be fixed by the developers. Meanwhile, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know how to get the Ghost perk in the game. And for more such interesting guides, keep following DigiStatement.
