The wait for Tekken 8 was long, but it was certainly worth it. There are a lot of players who constantly get confused with crossplay and cross-progression. The former is the ability to play the same game with other players who are on different hardware. Cross-progression, on the other hand, is the ability to play a certain game on one platform and then continue your progress on the other. Both of these are quite helpful for players, but at the end of the day, it’s the developers who decide whether to include a feature in the game or not. Tekken 8 Cross Progression Support: Is it available?
As of now, Tekken 8 doesn’t have cross-progression support but it does offer crossplay. Quite unfortunate news for many, but it is what it is. Some players thought linking their Steam and PSN accounts to Bandai Namco accounts would work, but unfortunately, that isn’t so. So, if you are looking to play Tekken 8 on different platforms, you will have to play on different accounts.
Reddit user u/coltRG raised a question with Bandai Namco support on the topic of cross-progression in Tekken 8 and this is what they got in reply:
“As we were informed, it’s not possible to share progress/transfer progress, across different consoles/platforms. With that being said, we’ll take this as feedback to be considered for future references.”
While cross-progression might not be available right now, it could be added later on if there’s a demand for it. Currently, many players seem to be fine with no cross-progression support, so if you want it in the game, then we suggest submitting feedback for it to the developers. For now, there’s really no alternative or anything if you want cross-progression. However, if the developers add cross-progression support in future updates of Tekken 8, we will be sure to let you know.
