It’s pretty easy to turn off Gamescope on your Deck. All you need to do is follow the instructions given below and you will be enjoying games on your Deck with no Gamescope:

  • First of all, open SteamOS settings and select Developer.
  • Next, find the Developer Mode option in there and enable it.
  • Now, you need to access the terminal. For that, press the Steam button on your Deck along with the A button. This will bring up the Steam Overlay.
  • After this, head over to the Web tab and type this in the address bar: “steam://open/console”.
  • Entering the aforementioned will open the Steam Console.
  • Now, you just need to type this on the Steam console and hit enter: “gamescope –disable”.
  • Once you have entered the command, close Steam Console and restart Steam. You can also perform a restart of the deck.

This will effectively turn off Gamescope on your Deck. By the way, you can also press the three dots button on the right side of your Deck, open the Performance menu while in the game, and set the Performance Overlay Level slider all the way down to 0 in order to disable the statistic overlay.

Players can also try turning off the fps monitor for this. All you need to do is set the performance overlay level from 0 to 4 and then disable Shadow Perf Overlay. Lastly, you can also try hard rebooting your Deck to turn gamescope off. Just hold down the Deck’s power button for ten/twelve seconds and wait for it to power off.
