Lethal Company just keeps getting better and better with each new update. The game has grown so much that it’s constantly on Steam’s top-seller list. In fact, you don’t really often get to see indie games like this included in a list dominated by titles developed by big AAA and AA studios. But Lethal Company has done that exactly. While the game is certainly fun to play, recently some players have been complaining about a bug that greys out the invite button.
This issue, in particular, is a major one. Lethal Company happens to be a co-op game first and foremost, so having the invite button grayed out is troubling. Now, the issue could be due to something related to the Steam Overlay or the game just missing some of its files. Nonetheless, it’s a major issue, so we are going to help you fix it. So, continue reading to find out the fixes for this bug.
Lethal Company Invite Button Grayed out/Not Working Bug: Is there any fix yet
Here are some workarounds that you can use to fix this bug:
Restart –
Well, the very first thing that we recommend you do is restart the game. You can even go as far as to restart the PC and see if that helps. This will help you determine if this is just a one-off issue or something more serious. If you encounter the issue once again, then we suggest you switch to another workaround.
Re-host mission –
If you have already started a mission, then you will not be able to invite friends due to the invite button being grayed out. As such, to invite friends, first finish the mission you are currently in, and after it is over, re-host a new mission. You can invite friends then. Additionally, you can also relaunch the lobby after the game is saved.
Enable Steam Overlay –
Some players suggested enabling Steam Overlay to fix the invite button not working bug. So, if you haven’t already tried this, do that. You can enable Steam Overlay by opening Steam and then heading to Settings. Now, switch to the In-Game tab and then toggle on the Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game option.
Make your friend invite you on Steam –
Another workaround recommended by one player is to simply have the game running in the background and then make your friend invite you on Steam. So, do that and join in. If the issue continues to persist, take a look at the next fix.
Use mods –
There are certain mods that enable you to join in anytime during a mission. So, if you want, you can use them. The ShipLobby mod makes you join a lobby when you are in orbit. Whereas the LateCompany mod can be used to join during any point of a mission.
Verify files –
This could also be a result of Lethal Company having some of its files either missing or corrupted. So, we suggest you try verifying the files. Now, if you don’t know how to do that, just follow the instructions below:
- Open Steam and navigate to Library.
- Now, right-click on Lethal Company and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
And that’s all you need to fix this issue. Additionally, if you want to know all about using the Signal Translator in the game, here’s a guide. And, for more guides like this, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: Lethal Company baby crying sound: Does it mean anything?
