Is Mega Sceptile good in Pokemon Go

Mega Garchomp happens to be the latest released Mega Evolved Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Released on November 11, 2023, it was a highly anticipated Mega Evolution introduced in Pokemon Go, with more coming in the future. And with such a good number of them around, it can be a challenging experience to decide which Pokemon to evolve into its Mega form. This guide in particular will help you make your decision on the Mega Sceptile.

Mega Sceptile debuted in Pokemon Go on December 3, 2022, along with Mega Blaziken and Mega Swampert as part of Hoenn Mega Raid. The trio is part of Generation III, and their base forms served as starters in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire. It’s a fairly new addition to the Mega Evolution lineup of Pokemon Go, and with so many great contenders, we can understand your hesitation around evolving your Sceptile to Mega Sceptile. So, without much further ado, continue reading to understand if the Mega Sceptile is good in Pokemon Go.

When a Sceptile evolves into Mega Sceptile, it changes its type from Grass to Grass and Dragon. As for its main stats, here they are:

  • Max CP: 4585
  • Attack: 320
  • Defense: 186
  • Stamina: 172

The Mega Sceptile is weather-boosted during Sunny and Windy weather. And yes, it has a shiny variant too. The Shiny Mega Sceptile is easily identifiable by its light blue color, although the tail and seeds mostly retain their original coloring.

Resistance and Weakness

The Mega Sceptile takes an increased damage of about 256.0% from the Ice type. Furthermore, it also takes about 160% increased damage from five more types: – Bug, Dragon, Poison, Flying, and Fairy. On the other hand, it is also resistant to the following, with varying damage percentages:

  • Ground: 62.5%
  • Electric: 39.1%
  • Grass: 39.1%
  • Water: 39.1%

Evolution

Treecko is the base Pokemon in the Sceptile family. When given 25 Candy, it will evolve into Grovyle. Give 100 candy to Grovyle, and it will evolve into Sceptile. Lastly, it takes about 200 Mega Energy to mega-evolve Sceptile into Mega Sceptile. For subsequent Mega Evolutions, you will need 40 Mega Energy.

Moves

Quick Moves

  • Fury Cutter [Bug]
  • Bullet Seed [Grass]

Charged Moves

  • Earthquake [Ground]
  • Breaking Swipe [Dragon]
  • Frenzy Plant [Grass]
  • Aerial Ace [Flying]
  • Dragon Claw [Dragon]
  • Leaf Blade [Grass]

Good, Bad, or Mediocre

While the stats for Defense and Stamina of the Mega Sceptile are nothing to write home about, it’s the Mega Sceptile’s attack stat that makes it one of the top Mega Evolutions. Fury Cutter and Frenzy Plant are considered the best movesets for Mega Sceptile, but there are other equally good movesets too. Bullet Seed paired with Frenzy Plant will destroy any opponent that’s weak to Grass type.

Mega Sceptile reigns supreme when it comes to Grass-type meta. Nothing beats it due to its powerful movesets and stats. For Grass-weak Raid Boss, Mega Sceptile should be your first choice. While it’s definitely not the most powerful Mega Evolution, it certainly is in the top ten. As such, without a doubt, the Mega Sceptile falls comfortably on the good side of our Good, Bad, or Mediocre scale.

And that’s all we have on this topic for now. Now that you know if it’s worth investing in Mega Sceptile, why not see if Mega Gengar is worth it as well? For more guides like this, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement. Also, read: Is Mega Steelix good in Pokemon Go
