Forza Motorsport Infinite Loading Screen Issue: Is there any fix yet

It was a pretty long wait, but the next addition to the Forza Motorsport series after 2017’s Forza Motorsport 7 is finally racing onto the Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms on October 10, 2023. While it is the eighth game in the long-running Forza Motorsport series, it also happens to be the reboot of the entire Forza Motorsport sub-series. Since players will get to play a Motorsport title after such a long time, the hype around it just keeps increasing. It has gotten to the point where many have simply decided to try it out five days early by getting the Premium Edition of the game or by upgrading the Premium-Add-On Bundle on GamePass. But as always, playing a game this early also means that you will be suffering through a heap of issues. And right now, the “infinite loading screen” issue is a major one that many are dealing with. If you too are encountering the same, read this guide until the end for more details.

For unknown reasons, some players trying the early access version of Forza Motorsport seem to be stuck on an infinite loading screen even after downloading shaders. Players keep waiting and waiting, but nothing happens. As per reports, this issue also occurs after completing a race. So, is there any fix for it? Continue reading to find out.

Forza Motorsport Infinite Loading Screen Issue: Is there any fix yet

Follow the workarounds mentioned below, and you will be able to enjoy Forza Motorsport in no time. Just don’t skip any of them, and the issue should be fixed.

Restart –

Restarting is a tried-and-true method for dealing with a myriad of issues in games. We suggest you do so if you haven’t already. First, restart the game. If that doesn’t work, try restarting Steam and then your PC itself. If none of these work, you can go ahead and try another workaround.

Use lusrmgr.msc –

One player was kind enough to share their own workaround for this issue. So, follow the steps, and the infinite loading screen issue should be fixed:

  • Type in lusrmgr.msc in the Windows search bar. In case it doesn’t appear, head here and download the executable file. Run it, and then proceed to the next step.
  • Head to the Users folder in the C drive of your PC and right-click on the Administrator folder. Now, select Properties > General. Here, you should find the Account is disabled option below. Uncheck it. Click on Apply and OK to move on to the next step.
  • Now, right-click on your primary account folder and follow the previous two steps once again.
  • You can now close the window to perform a restart of the PC.
  • After that, try logging in with the Administrator account. If successful, you will have to go through the usual setup options and such.
  • Next, open Steam and log in to your account. Start the game and wait for the shaders to compile. You will also have a choice to log in through your Microsoft/Xbox account. Tab out and enter your correct credentials.
  • Continue playing the game and after a while, close it and try logging in to your normal Windows account. Now, launch the game, and see if the issue still persists or not.

Update drivers and Xbox app –

If you haven’t updated your graphics drivers in a while, you should do so ASAP. Keeping an updated graphics driver will ensure that there are little to no issues related to loading screens like this. Additionally, you should also update the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.

Rollback drivers –

There have been cases where updating drivers resulted in more issues in games. The same could be the case here. For this, the only fix is to roll back your GPU drivers. To do that, head to the official website of the GPU manufacturer and download the previous version of the driver for your GPU. Install it, and then see if the issue persists.

Remove Xbl credentials –

Here’s a heartfelt thanks to anotherdaydown, who also shared their own workaround to fix this issue. Although this solution didn’t work for many, you should still give it a try. To try this, you will need to follow the given steps:

  • Type in Credential Manager in the Windows search bar and open it.
  • Next, you will be presented with two options: Web Credentials and Windows Credentials. Select the latter.
  • Now, find each and every credential that starts with Xbl, and click on remove from the drop-down menu.
  • Once all the credentials are removed, launch Forza Motorsport and sign in with the correct credentials.

If you don’t want to go through all that, anotherdaydown also shared a much quicker way. Open whatever version of Notepad you have installed on your PC and then copy-paste or type in the following –

@echo off
cmdkey.exe /list > “%TEMP%\List.txt”
findstr.exe /C:”Target: LegacyGeneric:target=Xbl” “%TEMP%\List.txt” “%TEMP%\tokensonly.txt”
FOR /F “tokens=1,2 delims= ” %%G IN (%TEMP%\tokensonly.txt) DO cmdkey.exe /delete:%%H
del “%TEMP%\List.txt” /s /f /q
del “%TEMP%\tokensonly.txt” /s /f /q
echo All done
pause

Once that’s done, save the file as: remove_credentials.bat. You can now double-click on the file to run it. Launch the game once the process is complete.

Verify game files –

One of the causes behind this issue could be missing or corrupted game files. Now we don’t really have an answer as to how and why this happens, but one thing that we can confidently say is that this has a fix. You just need to:

  • Open Steam and head to the Library.
  • Find Forza Motorsport in there and right-click on it.
  • Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify the integrity of game files.
  • Restart your PC after you have verified the game files.

Link your Steam account to the Xbox app –

Another player was able to finally resolve this issue by linking their Steam account to the Xbox app. You should do the same too. Launch the game after doing that, and check whether you still encounter the infinite loading screen.

So, were you able to get back to enjoying the game? If yes, then here’s another guide that will help you get rid of yet another issue in Forza Motorsport: textures not loading.
