We’ve compiled a list of workarounds that can help you fix this problem in Payday 3. Refer to these fixes from the list below and check which one works for you.

Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files

  • Head to the official Microsoft website and download both the x86 and x64 versions of the C++ redistributable files.
  • Click on the x86 file and run it. If this shows you the “Install” button, then click on it to install the files. Contrarily, if you get the option to repair the files, you will have to do that first.
  • Repeat the same step with the x64 files.
  • After installing both, run the game and see if the error is fixed.

Update your GPU drivers

  • Press the Windows+ X keys together to open the Quick Link Menu.
  • Click on Device Manager, and then select the Display Adapters option.
  • Locate and right-click on the dedicated GPU driver that you’re presently using.
  • From the context menu, click on the Update Driver option.
  • Select the “Search automatically for drivers” option. This would prompt Windows to download the latest version of the GPU drivers.
  • Run the game and see if you’re still getting the error.

Note: You can also install the updated drivers from the official support software of your GPU manufacturer or from their official website.

Reinstall your GPU drivers

  • Follow the first two steps in the previous workaround to locate the dedicated graphics card of your system in the Device Manager menu.
  • Next, right-click on your dedicated GPU.
  • After this, click on the “Uninstall device” option.
  • Checkmark the box corresponding to the “Delete the driver software for this device” option, and then click on Uninstall.
  • Doing this will uninstall the GPU drivers on your PC. Now, simply restart your PC, and Windows should reinstall the updated version of the driver automatically.

Update Windows

  • Press the Windows + I keys together to open Windows Settings.
  • After this, select Update & Security, and then open the Windows Update tab on the left-hand side.
  • Select Check for Updates. This would prompt Windows to run a check and install all possible updates.
  • Once the process is completed, follow the on-screen instructions to install the update and then restart your PC.
  • Launch Payday 3, and see if the issue persists.
