Phasmophobia, the horror investigation survival game by Kinetic Games, is now coming to consoles. The British video game development studio announced this back on June 13, stating that the game “will enter Early Access for consoles on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 this August.” Now console players can enjoy hunting and investigating ghosts on consoles too. The game was already in Early Access on Steam, having been released in September 2020. Over the years, it has seen a lot of changes and new additions. And getting familiar with all the released content can be an overwhelming task for new players. Now, if you happen to be reading this article, then you must want to know about the “Detectives Only” Weekly Challenge in the game. It can be particularly confusing to know all about these Weekly Challenges. But with time, you will become familiar with them. That said, here’s everything you need to know about the Detectives Only Weekly Challenge in Phasmophobia.
Phasmophobia “Detectives Only” Weekly Challenge Explained
As the name itself suggests, a weekly challenge is a one-week event or challenge that automatically ends after seven days. Next week, a new Weekly Challenge will be presented to the players. Completing the weekly challenge isn’t mandatory or anything, but if you want to get rewards, then we recommend you take part in them.
The current Weekly Challenge in Phasmophobia is called “Detectives Only”. These challenges are reset every Monday at midnight UTC. So, the current weekly challenge will be live until July 16, 2023. The challenge for this week is: – Put your detective skills to the test; this ghost is giving nothing away!
How to complete the challenge?
For this challenge, players are required to find the ghost at 42 Edgefield Road a total of three times. Upon completion, you will be rewarded with $3000. However, to complete this challenge, you can’t use the EMF machine, check for fingerprints, or use the Spirit Box. This might seem a bit rough, but there are enough clues for you to correctly identify the ghost. Here are the clues you need to identify:
Raiju
During your hunts, check for flickering equipment. If you experience that happening a lot, then it’s most likely a Raiju.
Poltergeist
It is arguably the easiest ghost to find since it tends to throw multiple objects at you.
Moroi
A quick way to identify a Moroi is to smudge the ghost. This will blind it. Now, if it stays blind for more than ten seconds, then it’s a Moroi.
Mimics
Check your camera for orbs in order to identify this one.
Jinn
The Jinn essentially needs electricity to conduct its hauntings. The quick and easy way to identify it is to turn on the fuse box. If it turns off, then it’s not the Jinn. However, if the opposite happens, then it is the Jinn.
Deogen
The Deogen has the ability to easily sense your presence. So, hiding is, more or less, a waste of effort. To identify it, check for its speed. When far away, it will be very swift, while during close encounters, its speed will reduce significantly. Observing this behavior will let you know that the ghost is a Deogen.
Shade
Unlike other ghost types, Shades are very shy. This helps a ton in identifying them. If you find the game going for quite a long time without little to no activity, then the ghost must be a Shade. Additionally, you can also identify them by moving together in a group. The Shade will disappear at once if you and your team play together.
Revenant
The Revenant is the simplest yet most dangerous ghost in Phasmophobia. It behaves normally most of the time, except when it spots you. Once you are spotted by the Revenant, it will start chasing you. You can run too, but that will be a waste of effort for both the player and the ghost. It’s simply impossible to outrun it. And that is how you identify it.
Wraith
Find salt and spread it all around the room. Since the Wraith floats, it will leave no footprint. This is the best way to identify it.
Yurei
The Yurei has the ability to slam lots of doors at once. This unique ability can be used to identify it. All you need to do is open every single door and wait for the ghost to use its ability.
Banshee
Banshees like to scream. Like a lot! All you need to do is use the mic. The Banshee also likes to single out a victim and hunt them until they are dead. So, if someone is getting chased around or harmed a lot, the ghost must be a Banshee.
Demon
The best way to confirm whether a ghost is a demon or not is to use a crucifix. Demons fear it a lot, and using one within five meters of it will effectively stop it from hunting. That way, you will know that the ghost is a demon.
Myling
Unlike Banshees, Mylings are particularly quiet. Although players can use mics to detect their sounds. Additionally, Mylings tend to affect electrical equipment when near them. So, if you hear a noise along with your flashlight flickering or other electrical devices malfunctioning, then you can be sure that the ghost is a Myling.
Mare
The Mare hates the light and prefers to both hunt and attack players in the dark. It also possesses the ability to turn off a light that you just switched on. This is how you can identify a Mare. Intentionally turn on a light in a room and see if it immediately turns off. If so, then the ghost should be a Mare.
Onryo
Like Demons, Onryos are terrified of something. In this case, it’s candles. Just use a lit candle, and if a hunt never happens, then the ghost is most likely an Onryo.
Thaye
To identify a Thaye, ask the ghost its age using an Ouija Board. Ask again, and if this time its age goes up than before, you are facing a Thaye.
The Twins
This ghost tends to interact with two different objects at the same time. So, if you find that happening often during your investigation, you know which ghost it is.
Yokai
The Yokai likes to talk to humans. And as such, we recommend that you use the push-to-talk button as often as you can to identify it.
Hantu
This is another one that is easy to identify. The Hantu likes the cold and has a very noticeable icy breath. See something like that? Most likely, it’s a Hantu.
Oni
It’s easy to spot an Oni if you are moving around in a group. Conduct activities in a group and look for any kind of change in the environment.
Spirit
They have a pretty basic weakness: When smudged, they will be rendered inactive for 180 seconds. So, use this method to identify if a ghost is a Spirit or not.
Goryo
The Goryo can’t change rooms since it is unable to wander away from its favorite room (or ghost room). If your ghost is concentrated in one area only, then it must be a Goryo.
Obake
The Obake is a shapeshifter, which means that its ghost model has the ability to change. You can use this to identify an Obake.
Phantom
The best way to identify a Phantom is to use the camera. Take as many images of the ghost as you can, and then examine them. If the photo has no glitches and is completely clear, then it’s most likely a Phantom.
