Halls of Torment is yet another new addition to the horde-survival/bullet heaven genre. Popularized by Vampire Survivors, the genre has quickly garnered a huge following due to its simple gameplay and pure addictiveness. Developed and published by Chasing Carrots, Halls of Torment is currently under Steam’s Early Access program and will remain that way for at least six more months. There’s already a huge following around the game, as it recently achieved an all-time peak player count of 26K at the time of writing this article. That’s not an easy number for most games to achieve, especially for an indie and niche title like this. If you are reading this guide, you might want to know how to save your in-game progress midgame. So, is this even possible in Halls of Torment?
Saves, at this point, have become intrinsic to video games. Without them, it would be nigh impossible for most players to even try out new games or play existing ones. Can you imagine having to play games like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, or even Stardew Valley without any kind of save? No, right?! This is why there’s a save feature featured in almost all games (Only Up being an exception). So, is there a mid-game save option in Halls of Torment? Let’s find out!
Halls of Torment: How to save midgame
Well, Halls of Torrent doesn’t have a “mid-game save” option or feature. This means that you will not be able to save your in-game progress midgame. So, if you were expecting something like that, it’s better to ditch any thoughts about it.
To be entirely honest, this type of game isn’t really suitable for a mid-game save feature. Horde survival or bullet heaven games are meant to be played for a short burst. Almost all runs last for thirty or fewer minutes. And even that is a stretch. Halls of Torrent itself has a maximum runtime limit of thirty minutes. So, including a mid-game save feature is more or less detrimental to the overall gameplay experience. However, some players do want such a feature in the game. And for good reason. What if you are in the middle of a run and the game crashes? Without midgame saves, you will have to start from scratch. So, this gameplay feature has its uses as well.
But in the end, it’s entirely dependent on the developers if they are willing to add midgame save mechanics in Halls of Torment. Now, while you can’t save your runs mid-game, you can still save one piece of equipment when you save the Wellkeeper. This isn’t entirely an alternative to a mid-game save, but it’s still something.
For now, players will have to make do with the game as it is. So, will such a feature be added to the game in some kind of future update? Well, the chances of that happening range from very slim to none. But if the developers do announce adding a mid-game save feature to the game, we will be sure to let our readers know.
