Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 has been receiving high praise ever since its release on June 2, 2023. Street Fighter 6 marks the return of Capcom’s solid entry back into the fighting game space, as Street Fighter 5 wasn’t particularly loved by both fans and critics. The game is available for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. An arcade version will also be released later this year. The game has already sold more than one million copies since its release. And looking from a fighting game perspective, that’s an impressive number. However, recently, an in-game exploit has been found in SF6, and this seems to be troubling a lot of players.
Called the Throw Exploit, it has been doing the rounds in both the SF6 and fighting game communities. When it comes to things like these, fighting game fans aren’t particularly fond of them. In-game skills are taken quite seriously in the fighting game community, and exploits like these can be detrimental to both player count and game popularity. There’s a reason why you don’t hear much about exploit abuse in the fighting game genre compared to, say, action RPGs or farming sims, for that matter. Suffice it to say, the SF6 fans aren’t thrilled about this throw exploit. But what is it exactly? Let’s find out!
Street Fighter 6 Throw Exploit, Patch Fix Awaited
For the uninitiated, the throw exploit is a newly discovered exploit that makes you invulnerable to almost all enemy throws. The exploit was discovered by @ChinaTownTBB and shared on Twitter. Well, if you want to try it, make sure to use the classic control scheme, as the exploit doesn’t work with Modern Controls.
Here's a throw tech os that's super easy to do.
All you have to do is hold 1+MK+HK+HP, then press and hold Simultaneous Input Assistance (SAB) when you wake up. This will give a throw tech if you get thrown, or a block if you don't get thrown.@HatsonFGC#StreetFighter6 #SF6 pic.twitter.com/Ia3E52bXsd

Put in simpler words, this throw exploit makes you invulnerable to enemy throws as it allows you to escape the throw and block it simultaneously. “Using a feature in controls (for Classic and I think Modern; I don’t use Modern so I’m not too sure they have this feature) called Simultaneous Input Assistance(The video has it as SAB), you can option select throws/meaties/shimmies on wake up and beat all three.,” said AnimeIsntRealMyGuy, a Reddit user, on his post on the Street Fighter subreddit. They continued saying, “If you get thrown, you tech the throw. If they meaty, you block the meaty. If they shimmy, you don’t do anything and don’t get whiffed punished. This seems VERY strong(loses to command grabs I’m pretty sure but not everyone has one) and pretty much takes the guesswork out of defense”.
Since this is a pretty game-breaking bug, Capcom was quick to respond with a tweet announcing that they were aware of the exploit and will fix it as soon as they find the root cause behind it. Here’s that tweet –
We're aware of a bug related to throw escapes in #StreetFighter6, and are currently investigating the situation. Once we have identified the cause, we will be fixing the issue.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our players.

So, we suggest players not worry about this exploit too much and keep going on with their play sessions. Rest assured, Capcom will release a hotfix soon enough, although there’s no information on when. With that said, for more such content, follow DigiStatement.
