Far Cry 6 is best known for its stunning graphics; however, this may be one of the reasons for sudden FPS drops. It is advisable to disable the HD Texture Pack by uninstalling it. For this, go to the game’s installation directory and delete the installpkg_hd file. You can find this file here: Game Installation folder> data_final>pc> worlds.

Players can also try and turn off the HD Textures option via the in-game settings. Open Far Cry 6, head to the Options menu, and select the Video option. Now, in the Quality tab, scroll down until you find the HD Textures option. Make sure to turn it off.

Close In-Game Overlay

It is common for in-game overlays to cause FPS to drop mid-game. It is advisable to turn off all and any in-game overlays, such as GeForce Experience, Steam overlay, or even Discord. Once the overlays are off, restart the game and check if this fixes the issue.

Close necessary applications running in the background

At times, even when you close an application, it still runs in the background. This causes lag and even FPS drops in your game, so make sure to end all applications running in the background. You can do this by opening your Task Manager > Click on Processes. Now, find and disable those processes that are taking up too much of the system’s resources. After this, launch the game and check if the issue persists.

These workarounds are not suggested by the devs officially but have worked for many players, so they’re at least worth a try. Anyway, this brings us to the end of the guide, and we hope the workarounds provided above prove to be helpful.
